Cat City
Strangers in a new place...
After putting our luggages in the room and resting for a while... we went out to look for food... lunch time dy... it was around 1pm at that time... went out our hotel saw the cats statue... looked around decided to go to the left side of the hotel cause more shops there... walk a short distance saw some stalls selling food but mostly all finish dy... so fast... Kuching peoples eat lunch very early wan... and they have noodles or rice for breakfast... it you go at 2 or 3pm... most of the food finish dy...
So we cross the road and walk to the other side... walk to a road called Jalan Padungan... most of the road there are all one way road... if you driving on this side of the road and you want to go to the shop opposite... you have to make a big turn to the other side... and I also noticed that almost every road has a traffic light... could you imagine how many traffic lights there are...

Anywho, Jalan Padungan has a lot of shops... mostly selling biscuits or that sort... there are also food shop too... we walk around and saw a shop selling laksa... the famous Sarawak Laksa... so we tried it out... their laksa is sour and peppery taste... black pepper to be more precise... you could see black pepper in the gravy... not tat hot... their laksa is mee hon wan... not the yellow noodles like ours... and has prawns, fried eggs and tauge... the one we ate not the famous shop... not that nice... so so only... after that we walk along all the shops and bought some chicken biscuits and 'bee pang'... there are a lot of different 'bee pang'; peanuts, black sesame, 'bak hu', and coffee...
Saw this building and found it very funny... if it won't stay as a building forever... what will it become... hahaha...
We turn around the shops before reaching back our hotel... thought of going back to hotel and rest but its a waste of time... so we continue to walk to the right of the hotel... not far from the hotel is the Khatulistiwa Restaurant... and keep walking down the road, the Tua Pek Gong Temple is at the end... so we go and pray a while... when we leaving there's a group of tourist going in... all are 'ang mo'...
After that, we cross the road to the Chinese Historical Museum just opposite the temple... its just a small museum... entrance free... it has the records of the chinese people coming to Sarawak... no cameras are allowed... then we walk to the waterfront... you could see the Kuching River and opposite it... and we stop a while to rest... walk till leg sore dy...
After resting we walk down the waterfront... at the end is the market... so we cross the road to the bazaar... actually its a row of shops selling souvenirs stuff or sort... before that there's a house and a statue (picture below) about James Brook... don't know about what... hehehe... Anywho, we enter almost every shop... and bought some Sarawak shirt and souvenirs... we also had ice to eat on the way... very thirsty... no pictures cause forgotten dy... hehehe... very cheap only... one bowl of shaved ice cost only about RM2.50 or Rm3.50... forget dy... and a lot of fruits too... after that its almost 6pm dy... so we decided to go back to hotel, bath and rest...
Around 7pm we went for dinner... went out only the city is oddly darker then usual... usually at night very bright wan in Melaka... so we walk to find food but failed... all the shops closed dy... all shop close eat what? what Kuching poeples eat for dinner?... so we cross the road again and found a shop selling chicken rice... see like wanna finish dy... but what the heck... all shop close dy... so we ate chicken rice there.... not bad... got three types of chicken... steam, fried, and don't know what is the third (picture below, the center with gravy wan)... the wan that I dono is the best... hahaha... Sarawakian chicken rice all are either steam or fried chicken or both... they don't have the chicken like ours... and they don't eat chilly as much as us Malaccan...
The center wan is nice with the gravy... the right wan is the fried chicken... crispy... the left is steam chicken... very fatty...
After that we went to a shopping center near by... but don't know what its called... just enter only la... the shopping center is not as big as it seems... and most of the shops are branded shops... and could be found in Melaka... their cloths and shoes... everything also almost the same price as here... after that decided to go Parkson just opposite our hotel inside Crowne Plaza Hotel... there had Giant... went in to buy some water... but their drinks are expensive then ours about 50 cents or maybe less... it depends... some stuff are expensive about RM1 or so or maybe more... after that we decided to went back hotel... my legs are killing me... night life at Kuching is quiet... except maybe you go clubbing so what la... around 9.30pm... we went to bed... so tired...
